What is "yield" in terms of PCR Product?

I'm trying to find a good definition for "yield", in terms of PCR product, but i'm not sure I know what it is myself. Does yield refer to the amount of bands that show up after gel electrophoresis is done, or does it refer to the size of the bands (brightness and length)?
