In the Outlander series, what is the explanation for Frank Randall's existance after the duel?

it's all explained in Dragonfly in Amber, chapter 45. Mary Hawkins married Jack Randall, and in terms of genealogy, they had a child. But as for who the father is, you should read the book (I don't want to ruin it it for anyone).
